Is Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday?

This is the most tangled “is he/isn’t he” of the whole movie - because the evidence genuinely points both ways, and one clue hiding in the film’s own prop list makes it spicier than a simple rumour.

The report that appeared - then evaporated

On August 15, 2025, The Hollywood Reporter said Ryan Reynolds would reprise Deadpool in Doomsday. For about a day, it was as good as official. Then THR walked it back, amending the story to say there was no confirmation of Reynolds’ appearance after all. A major trade floating it and then yanking it is not what happens with a normal cameo - it’s what happens when something is being protected.

The clue Marvel left lying around

Here’s the detail that keeps this alive. Comb through the film’s documented props and costumes and you’ll find, sitting there among the shields and helmets, a “Deadpool Suit.” A suit doesn’t have to mean Reynolds is under it - but you don’t build and log a Deadpool costume for a movie he has nothing to do with.

Then there was the stunt: Reynolds’ Deadpool “crashed” San Diego Comic-Con to beg for a role in the film - the kind of wink-wink bit Marvel loves to run before confirming something for real.

Why it still isn’t a lock

• Tone. Deadpool’s R-rated chaos is a hard needle to thread into a PG-13, everyone-might-die Avengers finale.
• No name on the official cast. He wasn’t among the announced roster (see the cast guide).
• The walk-back. Until a trade re-confirms or the film screens, “no confirmation” means exactly that.

Where this lands

A prop, a retracted scoop and a Comic-Con stunt add up to a lot of smoke - far more than a random Reynolds tweet. If any “maybe” cameo actually happens, this is the one with receipts. But smoke isn’t a sighting, so we’re keeping it in the rumour column until someone lights the match. He’d fit right in with the mutant crowd the film is already juggling.
