Who dies in Avengers: Doomsday? No leaks exist yet - but based on story position and Marvel's patterns, here are the heroes most and least at risk of a Doom-shaped exit.
Let’s kill the clickbait first: there is no leaked death list. Anyone posting a “confirmed who-dies” thread is guessing. But you don’t need a leak to see where the knives are pointing - you just need to look at who Marvel spent money building up, and who it quietly borrowed from other, dying universes.
Because here’s the thing this movie is really about: at least four realities are colliding, and when the dust settles Marvel wants to walk out with one streamlined universe. Somebody has to not make the trip.
The names most in danger
The legacy X-Men. Patrick Stewart’s Xavier, Ian McKellen’s Magneto, James Marsden’s Cyclops and the rest are pulled from a separate, older film world - the one that’s colliding with the main MCU. Characters visiting from a doomed reality are the easiest, most emotional heroes to lose. A last stand for the classic X-Men would wreck audiences and cost Marvel nothing long-term.
Old Steve Rogers. The Dec 2025 teaser confirmed Chris Evans is back as the elderly, retired Steve from the end of Endgame - now with a family. Marvel doesn’t usually reintroduce a beloved character with a wife and child unless it plans to break your heart with them.
A torch-passing veteran. Thor himself sets the tone in the trailer, warning that heroes “died facing enemies that scared me far less than this one” - and praying over his daughter before “one more battle.” That is not the speech of a man everyone survives.
The names that are safe
- Doctor Doom. He’s the villain of two films. He’s fine.
- Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Shang-Chi, the Fantastic Four. Fresh leads Marvel just launched - killing them now would torch its own future (will Captain America die?).
- Loki. Too tangled in the multiverse machinery to waste early.
The catch nobody mentions
In a story built on variants and incursions, “dead” is a soft word. A hero can fall in Doomsday and be rewritten, replaced, or resurrected when reality is rebuilt in Secret Wars. So some “deaths” here are really cliffhangers with an asterisk.
Bottom line: expect a small number of gut-punch losses - the visiting legacy heroes and an old-guard sacrifice look most exposed, while Marvel’s new faces walk out alive.
